Guided Tours Following the Cranes
With the arrival of autumn, more and more cranes are gathering at Hortobágy. One of the most captivating natural events of this period is the crane migration. The crane is the symbol of the Hortobágy National Park and one of our most treasured natural assets. From the end of September to early November, the Hortobágy National Park Directorate organizes tours to observe the daily crane movements, known as "daruhúzás" (crane pulling), which occurs at dusk.
To observe the cranes heading to their roosting sites, the "Following the Cranes on Four Wheels" tour dates have been announced. The program starts at the Hortobágy National Park Visitor Center with the screening of the film Darumadár fenn az égen (The Crane Bird High in the Sky), followed by a brief orientation. Afterward, guests set off in a convoy of their own cars to the field observation site.
